Did you know
• Known as ITV Playhouse (1968) from 1968.
• Some of the early episodes were in fact an early flirtation with High Definition television. In order to disguise the fact (to some export markets) that they were cheaply and quickly made television multi camera productions, the producers tried out some new Pye make cameras that were capable of between seven hundred and one thousand line resolution, and then transferring the result to 35mm movie film, to give it "the film look". By 1956, company politics and cost considerations had killed both the idea, and the cameras, off.
