• First Danish film to be nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars in 16 years.
• At a showing at a film festival in Estonia, two of the reels had been switched by a mistake, making a part of the film out of place. Apparantly the majority of the audience didn't notice and was generally very enthusiastic about the movie despite the narrative being mixed up.
• An American remake was announced as early as 2009 and planned for a 2011 release, which would have been directed by Michael Caton-Jones and star among others Tom Wilkinson and Camilla Belle. However production company Halcyon filed for bankruptcy before the film started production and the rights were put up for auction. It would be a decade before the remake was produced, with a completely different cast and creative team, as After the Wedding (2019).
