Storyline

Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home.

Did you know

• During Ellie's birthday party, Jud can be heard in the background saying, "There was a big Saint Bernard... killed four people". This is an obvious reference to Cujo (1983), another movie based on a Stephen King novel.

• When Rachel is returning home from Boston, there is a highway sign that says "Derry 20 miles". Derry is a town that appears in numerous Stephen King stories, most prominently in "IT."

• Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer credit Jeté Laurence, who turned 11 during the shoot, with a preternatural talent for slipping into her character's sinister side. "She was a natural," said Kölsch. "I don't know necessarily where it came from! Before we would do certain takes in certain scenes where she was evil Ellie she'd say, 'Hey guys, could I just have a minute?' And she'd go stand off by herself, look down and think for a minute, then she'd go: 'OK. I'm ready.' And she'd come back and she'd be evil Ellie. And she was so convincing."
