• Gordon Ramsay has stated that he is much more understanding of mistakes on this show due to the fact that contestants are amateurs who want to learn. He stated he has no problem teaching and helping, but when dealing with professional chefs on his other shows, he has far less patience as a lack of skills usually indicates laziness or neglect in those scenarios.

• In season 5 Episode 6, Tyler Viars was the first contestant to be disqualified for mistakenly presenting another contestant's dish as his own.

• Joshua Marks, the runner up in season 3, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia shortly after leaving Masterchef. He committed suicide a year after the show finished shooting.
